I have to admit, among the first things that attracted me to Monstrous, an upper middle grade novel by MarcyKate Connolly, was the cover art. It"s an excellent mixture of the dark and also whimsical, and also after analysis the book, it"s a perfect match for the tone of the story.

Monstrous, I think, would be a good story for an extra mature middle grade reader. It"s a fantasy tale of friendship, trust, betrayal, and redemption. It teaches lessons around not taking situations or world at face worth, around asking important questions, and also repenting for wrong doings. The main character is relatable, if incredibly naive at times, and also the idea is fresh and also not somepoint that"s been rehashed a million times. For folks looking for a strong female character, I think this book can be a good choice. Kymera has actually an excellent heart, and while it takes her some time to figure out what the reader could more than likely deduce much sooner than she, I think it"s a merit to her that she tries to stand by the ones she loves till she has actually proof that she must perform the contrary. She is the rescuer time and also aacquire, and also as soon as she renders a mistake, she owns it and tries to deal with it. She"s not afrassist to take a threat, and also she is faithful nearly to a fault.

Monstrous is a tale of mad scientific research, fantasy adundertaking, and also sacrifice that packs an emotional punch. Kids who deserve to take care of the Harry Potter series have to be prepared for this story.
